Technologies for the industry of the future
The Vision Systems in Italy represent a sector with ample opportunities for development, especially in the Industry 4.0 field. Moved by this awareness, the main suppliers of technological solutions for the Smart Vision, under the guidance of AIdAM and ANIE Automazione, collaborate in a synergic way in the implementation of activities aimed at the development, promotion and diffusion of this technology on the national market. As part of these initiatives, Smart Vision Forum was born, a travelling exhibition-conference conceived by the WG Visione of AIdAM and ANIE Automazione and realized with the organizational support of Messe Frankfurt Italia. After the success of the first experience, the second edition of Smart Vision Forum – Technologies for the industry of the future will be held on 18 June 2020 at Padova Fiere.
Smart Vision Forum represents an opportunity for confrontation between the actors of the Industrial Vision Systems chain: suppliers of products and systems meet machine manufacturers and end users to present the most innovative technological solutions available on the market and future technological developments that will affect industry and services.
In the conference sessions are alternated speeches by manufacturers, integrators and distributors of Smart Vision technologies under the moderation of authoritative representatives of the academic and industrial world. In the exhibition area it is possible to deepen with professionals of the sector the technological aspects dealt with during the conferences.
OPENING SESSION: Smart Vision, technologies for the industry of the future
The Artificial Vision today is a mature sector in both industry and services, but at the same time it has great potential for development thanks to new technological trends related to Advanced Manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence. In Industry 4.0, in fact, vision systems and sensors are important for the many benefits that their use brings. It is no coincidence that vision devices are considered essential components of advanced automation systems. Unlike sensors or other elements of the production line, Vision Systems generate huge amounts of image data that can be used to identify and mark defective products, understand their shortcomings and enable effective and efficient intervention.
Zero defect production, component size reduction and the use of increasingly automated and flexible production methods are driving the diffusion of Vision Systems in Italian industrial realities. At the same time, new approaches, new methodologies and innovative technological solutions are emerging and there is considerable room for performance improvement while new applications become possible.
The main challenges for companies still remain today the complexity in the integration of Artificial Vision Systems and the lack of full awareness of users of the rapid evolution of these technologies. During the opening session, authoritative figures from the industrial and academic world will discuss opportunities and critical issues, introducing the issues that will be explored in depth by suppliers of products and solutions for Smart Vision during the conference sessions.
The evolution of the manufacturing and process industry is strongly influenced by the use of digital technologies. In this context Machine Vision plays a leading role allowing to detect defects and imperfections, monitor and constantly improve production processes, and optimize the use of resources. The resulting benefits are well defined: repeatability of results, product reliability, speed of inspection and control procedures, quality improvement, customer satisfaction and loyalty. New technological trends include, in particular, Deep Learning techniques in industrial applications, multispectral and hyperspectral cameras, three-dimensional vision, the spread of applications with embedded systems, advances in liquid lenses and HDR shooting systems.
Vision Systems are finding ever wider fields of application and solution providers are aiming for increasing standardization of components and their use. The complexity of the tasks to be performed and the demand for the highest quality and reliability of the results make the support of companies that follow the customer from the initial analysis of its application to the final proposal of the most suitable solution indispensable. Normally used with functions of quality control and product traceability along the entire production chain, thanks to the functionality and high computing power, Vision Systems can find unlimited application sectors. To name a few: robotics, agriculture, augmented reality, medical, biometrics, pollution monitoring, facial recognition, security and surveillance.
